How I Got Here

I’ve been crafting stories for as long as I can remember, but in 2020 I decided to take the plunge and dedicate myself to the writing profession. Since then, I’ve been very fortunate to have had several books published.

It should come as no surprise that my first book shines a light on a child living with Autism Spectrum Disorder. At the age of 2 my son, Aamir, was diagnosed with Autism. From the very beginning, I strived to teach my son that under the right circumstances, he could use his autism as his superpower. I wrote this book to remind other children on the spectrum that they are not defined by their limitations. There are superpowers in us all.

What people are saying.

Autism is my Superpower

"Autism is still a very unknown world to many people. Cecily wrote a short story Children’s book in honor of her son to inspire many. It also allows people to take a step in the world of Autism. As an Autism parent myself, I enjoyed this inspirational piece. It would be great if classrooms around the world carried this book to showcase more inclusion."

       Autism is my Superpower

"I enjoyed the book immensely mainly because it was so easy to read and the character is relatable I can see my grandson with this superpower. I sincerely thank the author for sharing her knowledge of autism in a way that expresses both strength and a bit of humor while exposing how strong and smart our love ones are in their world of autism.
That is a superpower!"

       Autism is my Superpower

"Autism is definitely a superpower. I love that my son can finally read a book that he can relate to on various levels. The illustrations excited him. He could see himself in this book. As mother and a teacher, this means the world to me. Excellent book!"
